National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, Freelance Gallery Educator
October 2022 – current
Gallery visits align with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence to nurture creativity, develop skills and deepen understanding of culture in Scotland and the world.
- As a freelancer for the Learning and Engagement Department I produce practical workshops for schools at the National Galleries, working with the collection and introducing school groups (Primary and Secondary) to art processes and practices. I encourage learners to lead and invite teacher participation in the workshops.
-       I have run two series of online workshops with teenagers on experimental approaches to drawing
Hospitalfield, Angus, Lead Artist on Young Artists Club 2022, May – October 2022
The Young Artists Club offered time and space to young people aged 14-18 to meet on Saturdays and encounter the visual arts, using Hospitalfield’s heritage and garden as a starting point.

-       Led on the design and delivery of the Young Artists Club project, a 20-week programme of arts activities designed to increase access to the arts for a targeted group of young people living in Angus, including SEN students, young carers and refugees learning English as a second language
-       Delivered sessions across a range of making practices including drawing, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, zine-making and animation
-       Engaged creatively with the collections at Hospitalfield – art, gardens, house – as a way to think about big ideas (environment, institutions, art history, identity and gender) in a local and accessible way
-       Produced a final exhibition with the young people, including site-specific installations in the historic house
-       Sourced materials within a budget and managed an assistant, evaluating the session with them every week
-       Contributed to the project evaluation: ran a participants’ feedback session and wrote a report for funders.
