Drawings in ice
2018

A series of drawings from a residency on Örö, Finland. I undertook the residency in the aftermath of the ‘Beast from the East’, and the island was ice-locked for most of my stay. Part 1 is a drawing in snow and ice that stretched across harbour; Part 2 is a series of drawings based on textures and viewpoints found on the island. Together they explore tensions between humans and nature, in the context of this island in the Archipelago Sea in Finland, which was closed to visitors for 100 years.

Part 1: Swimmers in the North Harbour

Part 2: Drawings in plastic wallets
